Maintenance Technician

Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for preserving the good condition and functionality of a scattered site portfolio of apartments in the University District and surrounds neighborhoods. A Maintenance Technician is a thorough professional with a practical mind and attention to detail. The ideal candidate will be able to work autonomously and responsibly, while observing all health and safety guidelines. A Maintenance Technician will need a strong line of communication with both the residents and the maintenance supervisor. The position is full time, requiring that the employee be available a minimum of 40 hours per week. Additional hours are required during our annual move in/move out period.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform minor repairs such as broken locks, disposals, lavatories etc.
  • Check control panels and electrical wiring to identify issues.
  • Install appliances and equipment.
  • Clean up after oneself, remove all debris and mess.
  • Conduct punch-out tasks during the apartment turn process. 
  • Inspect and maintain the functionality of life safety systems (e.g., fire alarm) and perform preventative maintenance. 
  • Collaborate with other professionals during renovations.
  • Report to a facilities or Maintenance Supervisor or Coordinator for issues.
  • One Week of after-hours on call maintenance per rotation required.

  • Basic understanding of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems.
  • Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods.

  • Working knowledge of tools, common appliances, and devices.
  • Manual dexterity and problem-solving skills.
  • Good physical condition and strength with a willingness to work overtime.

Education and Experience:

  • Current/clean driver’s license and record.
  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • Basic understanding of technology with a preference to property management software. 

Work Environment:

  • This position works in a scattered site portfolio around the University District and surrounding neighborhoods. 

Compensation and Benefits:

  • $20-$25/hour based on experience.
