CURRENT RESIDENT FAQs

Current Resident FAQs

  • General Maintenance

We provide general and emergency maintenance services for all our properties. The easiest, fastest, and most efficient way to submit a maintenance request is to submit a request on your online portal. All things considered normal wear and tear are covered by BRE. If something simply breaks or malfunctions, we will take care of it, no worries!

There are some repairs you may be charged for if they are directly caused by Lessees and their guest per your lease agreement (section 3.5). You can refer to the following link for our General Maintenance guide, Common Resident Responsible Repairs and Cost, for more details about some common repair responsibilities and their cost. We recommend asking our maintenance office questions if you are unsure if it is your responsibility and how to handle it.

Many repairs residents are responsible for are simple fixes (such as disposal jams, clogged toilets, and changing light bulbs). Knowing how to repair them can save you some money. YouTube is also a great source for reference on minor repairs and maintenance tricks.

  • Required Insurance

Section 3.1 of your lease agreement states “For the duration of the lease, Lessee is required to maintain and provide the minimum required insurance coverage as outlined in the Required Insurance Addendum section of this lease. Lessor is not responsible for any personal property on the Premises unless loss is due to Lessor's negligence.  Lessee will be responsible for and is required to insure all of the Lessee's personal property on the Premises and hereby relieves Lessor of all risk that can be insured thereunder.”

This statement requires all Buckeye Real Estate residents to obtain liability insurance (covers property damage) and encourages everyone to obtain renter’s insurance (covers personal property).

If the proper insurance is not obtained by all residents on lease, you will be auto enrolled into a liability policy until you provide proof of insurance via the Resident Portal. Keep in mind this auto enrollment is for liability insurance only. If you want to have your personal belongings covered, you will need to update your policy or obtain your own. You can view the full details of our Required Insurance policy here in Required Insurance Addendum.

  • Renewal Options

The staff at Buckeye Real Estate is constantly striving to make your residency with our company an enjoyable experience.  We look forward to assisting you with all your housing needs during your stay and would like to encourage you to share your suggestions with us on how we can improve our service to you.  Most leases signed with Buckeye Real Estate are approximately a one-year term, please refer to your copy of your agreement with any questions you may have regarding the dates and terms of your lease.  Our campus area lease terms are handled somewhat differently than most residents might be used to.  Renewal leases are signed rather early in the term near the O.S.U. area because securing housing is a priority among Columbus residents.  We know it seems absurd to think about renewing your lease when you’ve just moved in, however, it is something that we’d like you to keep in mind as all our residents will be contacted soon to review their renewal options.

Buckeye Real Estate offers our residents a specific period of time to renew their lease agreement before the new leasing season begins.

Get more information on Renewal Options here.

  • Parking Guidelines

Parking is a privilege for our residents. Availability will vary from property to property. Failure to comply with all parking guidelines set forth by Buckeye Real Estate and/or any misuse of the parking pass will result in revocation of parking privileges without refund. Please read our Parking Rules/Guidelines here.

  • Rent Payment Information

Buckeye Real Estate uses an online rental payment system for your convenience. Every resident will have a unique resident portal. Your unique portal will contain your personal payment information as well as your unique signature ID for signing documents. So, it is very important that you do not share your login information, even with roommates and co-signers as they will have their own login. Please review the  Payment Guidelines here

  • Pet Policy

  • Subletting Policy

What if a resident needs to leave the apartment before the lease is up? While Buckeye Real Estate does not offer ‘Subletting’, we do offer other options that can assist when one or more lessees need to be removed from the lease for one reason  or another. You can view our policies here.

  • Preparing for Move Out

Moving out can be stressful. Please refer to the following guide to help make your move out as smooth as possible. Move Out Guide
